Steering and Suspension

There are tow basic types of steering system, standard mechanical steering and rack and pinion steering. The standard mechanical steering can be either power assisted or non-power. Rack and pinion is almost always power assisted although there are rare cases where it is not.

Standard mechanical steering uses a series of links and arms to ensure both wheels turn in the same direction at the same time. It hasn't changed much in all the years it's been used and is quite simple.

The pivots are ball and socket joints that do wear out over time and will require replacement. Loose steering parts will make a car difficult to handle and will cause the front tires to wear out permanently. That is why it is important to have the steering checked at least once a year. Registration Inspection 

As an authorised Inspection Station, A. A. Automotive Services conduct a comprehensive motor vehicle condition report to assess the condition of any motor vehicle. The vehicle condition report covers all areas of the vehicle. The report is completely independent of car dealers, and can be carried out on all passenger, 4WD and light commercial vehicles.

All cars over 3 years have to under go a road worthy check, what was known as a 'Pink Slip' inspection, in order to re-register cars.  The RTA's e-Safety Check has replaced the traditional paper-based inspection scheme and A. A. Automotive Services is authorised to carry out registration inspections and transmit the inspection report electronically.
